A burn? Give me a break – bought it – full of glitches, March 27, 2012

Content wise this 3 DVD set is great, but because it’s a burn and not the real deal there are all sorts of glitches with it – sound and picture wise.

There’s no reason this couldn’t have been a bluray release with killer picture and sound.

I am watching it now and there are some sound glitches as well as picture glitches.

    Not cool.

Great Show But Buyer Beware!, March 24, 2012
    By

This review is from: Metal Evolution (3 Discs) (DVD)

As far as the show it self goes, it is a very worthy attempt to link the decades of Hard Rock and Metal back to its roots, and while another reviewer is accurate about some bands being glossed over or maybe even left out, this show is an important aspect in keeping great music alive and in the public eye by way of television. Outside of “That Metal Show” and a few random live concerts here and there most of our Music Televsion channels have gone the way of reality shows or cartoons as a primary focus instead of showing videos and other related musical content. At one time we had MTV, MTV2, VH-1, and VH-1 Classic, not to mention Fuse and CMT all showing 24 hour a day musical content, and there was enough to keep the programming flowing on every channel. Music channels are meant for music fans to see shows with music content, it’s that simple, and this series is full of great musical content and pretty accurate with its history of linking one decade to another. So why the “Buyer Beware?” This series is being produced on DVD-R which at one time was considered “Bootlegging” and prohibited from being sold on Amazon. With that said, yes you will get the whole series in one set, but should DVD-R and CD-R content be sold as a standard? If this becomes acceptable, you will never know what you are paying for until after you receive it unless you notice the small warning on the item page. Anyone can create DVD-R and CD-R versions of anything, and although Amazon was more than willing to offer a full refund when I received an item similar to this, it should not [in my opinion] be acceptable to sell such items to the unsuspecting public on such a trusted site. This show deserves real DVD release treatment as do other items created with this technology such as “Legend of The Superheroes” [an old Adam West show featuring his return as Batman] as well as Ringo Starr’s “Stop and Smell the Roses.” So summing it up, a great show that is worth a look, but released on sub-standard technology that should not be acceptable to a buyer spending top dollar to purchase it.

I WOULD buy if on standard DVD medium…, April 18, 2012

This review is from: Metal Evolution (3 Discs) (DVD)

This series was outstanding as my wife and I watched and enjoyed each episode on VH1 Classic, so this review would have been a 5 star if based upon content. I would have been MORE than willing to shell out a reasonable $25 or so for this series on standard DVD, but I refuse to even purchase it on DVD-R! Thank you to all who wrote reviews warning of this fact. I am very disappointed in all of the powers that have collaborated to allow such a good show/series to be produced on such an unacceptable and unprofessional medium of distribution to a paying public!

Shame on you VH1 and Amazon… two names that I usually hold in high regard and have much respect for!

Fantastic idea for robust “pegboard”, April 24, 2010

This review is from: Wall Control 30-WGL-200GVB Galvanized Steel Pegboard Tool Organizer (Tools & Home Improvement)

In the process of putting together a hobby-room work space it was time to look for a pegboard to mount above my new smith table. I had previously purchased a nice 24X48 polymer unit from Lowes like the two I have mounted in my garage, but, alas, they no longer carry it for whatever reason. After utilizing the poly boards for the last 5 or so years, I’ll have nothing to do with the old fiber board pegboards, so I went to Amazon to see what other options were out there…which is where I came across the Wall Control galvanized steel pegboards.

With the rolled edges and built-in mounting solution, it looked like a good option. Looking around the web a bit they had good reviews, so I decided to pick up the two panel pack with the included accessories (Wall Control 30-WGL-200GVB).

Mounting was a snap, and I have to say that the cut and folded steel panels to make the ‘standoff’ mounting system was great. Love that you don’t have to fuss with any spacers or frame to get this up. Luckily my builders actually spaced my studs at a proper 16″ apart so I was able to mount the two panels firmly into 3 studs with the included mounting screws.

Build quality is good and these are very, very solid. They will (of course) flex a bit in the middle, but they are solid and durable. The accessories and peghook system is very different from standard pegboard accessories. While the Wall Control unit will accept standard ’round hole’ peg hooks and accessories, the galvanized boards also use mounting slots for their own accessories. The hooks and accessories mount very securely due to the way you have to fiddle the hooks into the slots (hard to explain, but these mounts are not going to fall out). I ended up using a combination of the Wall Control ‘slot’ mount accessories, plus a bunch of standard pegboard accessories and they all managed to get along just fine 😉

One plus to using these steel peg boards that I did not initially think about was the use of magnetic mounts! Of course! I have a bunch of thin 1/4 x 1/2 neodium magnets that I use around the shop for sticking tools to metal surfaces. If you’ve used any of these neodium magnets you know they are POWERFUL. Using a few of these I was able to tack a few extra items to the edges of the pegboard, as well as just ‘stick’ a few things to unused areas of the surface where a regular peg mount would not suffice.

I like these so much now that I am looking at getting another pair to expand my storage options.

My wife even likes the looks of it. Wall Control has several colors (besides unfinished steel) such as Black, Blue, and Red (along with matching accessories) if you want to mount this in more colorful hobby room, or even a kid’s area.

    Good idea, bad hooks…., February 4, 2011

This review is from: Wall Control 30-WGL-200GVB Galvanized Steel Pegboard Tool Organizer (Tools & Home Improvement)

I really like the idea of the wall control system and it looked great when I set it up two years ago. I love that it is made in the USA!!!! The galvanized steel pegboard has been great it is nice and sturdy and best of all no rust. But…. The wall control hooks have a big design flaw. They use this black rubber o-ring to help stabilize them when you put them in. Problem is that every o-ring broke off within the first month. You don’t have this problem in hooks that attach in two places because they brace each other, but all the single hooks are loose. The good thing is that with they way they attach they will not just fall out. All that said I find the shelf, screwdriver holder, and hammer holder the most useful because they don’t need the o-rings. I especially love the 2″ hammer holder because it will hold almost any DeWalt tool I have and can support a lot of weight. Now if they redesigned the single hooks with some sort of stabilizing flange then this system would be perfect (except for the cost).

This is a heavy duty replacement for standard peg board storage. Although you can install it on wallboard using screw anchors I would use molly bolts if I was doing it that way. The best way of attaching the panels is on the studs. Since my garage has finished wallboard over 16inch studs that is what I did. Once you figure out where the studs are installation is straight forward. I bought 6 panels so my wall is 96 wide by 32 high. It looks great and I can hang pretty much anything I want on it.

The supplied hanger attachments are superior to the standard pegboard items for most purposes but it accepts both. I ended up with a mix of both since I had a lot of the old ones around. I can highly this product.
