I wish I could give it 5 stars since I have coworkers who have the same hammer and it’s been great for them. However for me the experience has been different. Shortly around 2 weeks after owning the hammer and using it at work the plastic piece above the head of the hammer across the handle has fallen off. It slowly worked it’s way loose as I would use the hammer. To add insult to injury the head became loose before the previous incident happened. It doesn’t show any signs of coming off but it does wobble to the sides which is a bit disappointing considering how much I paid for this hammer. I just hope mine was a defective product and I will continue to use it as long as it doesn’t fall apart any further. I will update with pictures once I get some as I currently home and the hammer is in my tool box at the jobsite.

Edit: Have added photos and videos. 6/25/2018

So, I needed a good way to ‘start’ splitting wedges into hardwood rounds so I could get splitting them into firewood.

Trying to get wedges to ‘stick’ so you can whack them hard without them flying when you whack ’em hard is pretty important…flying wedge is not good for safety! Trying to get wedges to get started with a large sledge is actually pretty difficult due to how heavy and unwieldy they are, I needed a good mini sledge, and this one is the ticket!

I already own the 10 lb 36″ version of this maul – Wilton 21036 10 lb. BASH Sledge Hammer with 36-in Unbreakable Handle .

As with the 10lb version, this is tough and rugged. I smash it in to wedges until they are firmly in place, then finish the job with the 10lb maul. Works great! After splitting up about 20 cords of wood, this is still in good shape, handle has great grip, and handle is firmly attached to the head. No notable damage.

    Great!

Great hammer for any trade where a little brute force is required. Is surprisingly well balanced for such a short handle with a 4lb head, i believe the handle has a metal shaft in it which brings on the “unbreakable” garentee. In my trade I use this hammer on a daily basis and even though all the paint on the head only lasted about a week this is the best hammer ive ever swung. Feels like thor’s hammer in your hands and can beat the heck out of about anything even in cramped areas. Definitly a 5star product
