The product states anyone can sharpen blades using this tool but I found it ruined my arsenal of blades. I spent a Saturday afternoon sharpening 30 blades, even blades that didn’t need it, but since I had the sharpener out I wanted to sharpen everything I could get my hands on. It was easy to use and I felt proud of my work. It wasn’t until Monday when back at work I discovered none of my blades would cut. They would drag through the pet hair pulling out shed, and not cutting anything at all. The sharpener didn’t sharpen my blades, worse yet, it ruined them. The blades were cutting before sharpening, they were just not cutting as good as new. But now the blades are simply scrap metal. They cannot cut any fur at all. That day I was so scared my business would be destroyed without proper tools, I had to drop $400 on a set of new blades.
When I called Petedge Master Grooming it took twelve weeks, six emails, and a threat of me suing them in order for them to be responsive. The very first call rep said, “What we’re finding is there is an art to sharpening.” If even a warning that small was on the sharpener, I never would have purchased it, because I’m not a sharpening artist. I’m a groomer. Petedge eventually agreed to replace my arsenal of blades at 50% OFF retail, which was not as generous as I expected.
Unless you’re a sharpening artist, I suggest staying very far away from this product.

I was excited to see an affordable sharpener that would save me time and money by sharpening my own clipper blades. I watched instructional videos and followed the directions closely. The sharpening pad wore out after two blades and no longer felt rough at all. I was careful to not press down too hard when I sharpened and only applied light pressure but it was enough to produce a few sparks so I thought it was working. After testing on my schnauzer the blades were way worse than before. I really wasted my money on this one. It feels and looks super cheap too. Oh well. I have bought Ceramic cutters to replace my metal ones that have gone dull and that seems to be an easier less expensive solution to sharpening all the time.
